I stayed in Elk City, OK last night but rode 40 to Weatherton for breakfast. Very good and very reasonable. |
It seems all of the towns are from the early 1900's |
Now that's a selection. Can you guess the one I chose? :) |
This is out of order, but is what I woke up to on Thurs. morning! |
Old town McAlester, OK. Remember when they used to broadcast with 500,000 watts from the tallest building in town and your bed springs would talk to you. |
Falfa, OK. the town just before this one was named Al. |
More of what I woke up to on 9-11 |
It was pretty warm riding today because the humidity was really up there. |
Angie's Cousin Rodney. Inside joke |
Beginning of the Talimena Drive. |
This one warned of steep grades, the next one of a lot of curves. |
So for the next 53 miles there are 23 vista stops. I stopped at every one of them but only took pictures at a few of them. I only plan to comment on a couple of the many pictures. |
They only mow the sides of the road in the fall just before the trees change color. This is so the wild flowers can mature and reseed themselves. |
I love it when the trees form a canopy over the road |
I made it here! |
If Patience was with me we would have had to ride this. |
It didn't look great on the outside, but I was very comfortable here. Especially when I woke up to the constant rumble of thunder. |
Good meal at the evening buffet. I'm gaining at the rate of 1.5 pounds per day. |
